When someone nearby pulls out their phone and types “plumber near me”, Google decides in about half a second which three or four businesses to show. Local SEO is the work of making sure you’re one of them.
Free, no contract, no sales pressure. In English or Spanish.
It’s not the same job as ranking a national website. For local searches Google weighs where you physically are, how complete and consistent your business information is, what your reviews say, and how well your site answers the exact question someone typed. Then it picks the few businesses it trusts enough to put in front of a person standing a few streets away.
Most of that is fixable. The majority of local businesses we look at have a Google Business Profile that’s maybe forty percent filled in, a phone number that’s written three different ways across the internet, and a website that never once mentions the neighbourhoods they actually serve. None of that requires a bigger budget to fix — it requires someone to sit down and do it.
Categories, services, service area, hours, attributes, products, photos. This is free, it’s the single strongest local ranking factor you control, and almost nobody finishes it.
Your name, address and phone across directories, maps, social profiles and your own site. Google cross-checks these, and small inconsistencies quietly hold you back.
Pages that are genuinely about the place — landmarks, neighbourhoods, what’s different about working there — not one paragraph with the city name swapped out six times.
When to ask, how to ask, how to reply to every review including the bad ones. Review volume and recency both feed rankings, and most businesses ask at the worst possible moment or never.
Including the Spanish ones. What people type is rarely what a business calls itself, and the gap between those two is where your competitors are winning.
Rankings move. When a competitor makes a change and passes you, we want to know that week, not next quarter.
Someone typing “near me” is usually acting today, not researching for later. Local search intent is about as close to a purchase as attention gets.
Turn ads off and they stop the same day. Rankings you’ve earned keep bringing people in during the months you spend nothing.
The ones closest to you cost the least to serve, show up most reliably, and come back. Local visibility reaches them first.
Appearing on Maps produces direction requests and calls — actions that happen minutes before someone walks through your door.
Profile and listing fixes can move things within a few weeks — sometimes faster, because you’re correcting errors rather than competing. Real movement in rankings usually takes two to four months, and longer in a crowded city. Anyone promising you the top of the map in thirty days either doesn’t know or is hoping you don’t.
No. A service-area business — one that travels to customers — can rank on Maps without showing a public address. The setup is different and getting it wrong is a common reason businesses stay invisible, but it works.
Then we deal with them properly. A handful of negative reviews answered well often reads as more trustworthy than a wall of perfect fives. What hurts is silence.
No, and nobody can. Google doesn’t sell placement in local results and doesn’t take requests. What we can do is fix every factor that’s in your control, which for most businesses is a great deal more than they expect.
